Dr. Fatih Uckun currently serves as a Professor of Research Pediatrics at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of
Dr. Fatih Uckun began his career with a medical degree from Heidelberg University in Germany. From there, he accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship in immunology, followed by a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation with the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While completing these programs, Dr. Uckun also worked his way from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and then to tenured Full Professor of Therapeutic Radiology-Radiation Oncology, Pediatrics and Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Uckun also served as President and Director of Parker Hughes Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Dr. Uckun has over 400 separate publications to his name, all in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, Science, Immunity, New England Journal of Medicine, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He has authored several book chapters, including in Hematology and Blood Transfusion: Acute Leukemias II, Vol. 33; and the Proceedings of the First International Symposium on Bone Marrow Purging, Bone Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Uckun also has published 213 abstracts, and he has been honored with several internationally prestigious awards including the Stohlman Memorial Award of the Leukemia Society of America.
Dr. Uckun enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and sports. He currently resides in Glendale, California, and holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Hematology, and the Radiation Research Society, as well as a senior membership in the American Society for Clinical Investigation, an honor society for physician-scientists.
